In this final section, we describe two further applications using organic and mineral membranes in the paper and petrochemical industries.
3.1 Recycling coating sauces in the paper industry
Coating sauces are used in the paper industry in the finishing phases of papermaking. This coating adds surface properties to the paper substrate. Coating consists in applying a coating to one or both sides of the paper to improve its printability: by filling voids and covering fibers, the surface of the substrate, initially rough and macroporous, becomes a plain microporous surface. The paper's quality is thus enhanced by modifying its whiteness, its appearance (gloss or matte), its smoothness (aspect of the paper's structure that can be observed through transparency) and...
