3.1 Objectives and benefits of the method

Like atmospheric pollutants, greenhouse gas emissions cannot be measured using conventional sampling stations, as there are a multitude of greenhouse gases. For this reason, ADEME has developed the Bilan Carbone ® method for estimating greenhouse gas emissions, as part of the French climate-energy plan. It applies to all activities: industrial or tertiary companies, administrations, local authorities and even territories managed by local authorities.
