6.1 Problem position
The various weighting methodologies presented above all require a generic leak frequency to be available beforehand. The first step is therefore to find a value that is representative of the sector of activity in which the risk analysis is being carried out.
Choosing the right database is a crucial step in quantifying risk, since it determines the final result, irrespective of the weighting methodology subsequently adopted.
