The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has proposed a widely accepted definition of cloud computing.
It is "a model enabling simple, on-demand, pervasive network access to a set of configurable computing resources (e.g. servers, networks, storage, applications and services) that can be made available and released quickly, minimizing management or interactions with the service provider" .
