9. PMO (Plant Maintenance Optimization) method

9.1 Origin and background

The Plant Maintenance Optimisation (PMO) method was developed in the late 1990s by Steve Turner . The origin of his PMO method stems from his frustration with the results obtained with conventional MBF in traditional industrial sectors. As a result of the expertise he had acquired through the application of MBF, he identified recurring weaknesses in the majority of preventive maintenance programs:

  • traditional maintenance programs, which have never been designed from the outset, result in 40-60% of tasks...
