2. Reliability growth models
2.1 Model evolution
Early work on software reliability focused on assessing the number of defects present in the code. In 1972, Mills proposed a model based on the defect swarming technique (voluntary introduction of predefined defects into the code prior to testing) . But this model had the disadvantage of not being able to determine the contribution of purely software faults to overall system reliability.
In 1978, Nelson also proposed a model for assessing software reliability
