5. Conclusion

Software reliability is a fully accepted software quality feature.

On the other hand, its quantification by models, although globally mature, is not yet recognized in the various industrial and academic fields.

However, it offers a better understanding of the process by which software failures occur, and can be used to optimize software testing. It also provides an objective characterization of software operational reliability, and can be integrated with reliability approaches used for other hardware components of systems.
