8. Air quality monitoring with biostations
8.1 Current situation
Biostations generally consist of 1 or more model plants (figure 7 ). Some of these are now standardized (e.g. ryegrass for inorganic elements, kale for organic elements). Thanks to the use of these model plants, biostations also provide us with information on air quality and, for the first time, on the contamination of food chains leading to humans or animals, i.e. on the health risks associated with the presence of these pollutants.
