2. Lighting

2.1 Terminology

Lighting is an integral part of the working environment. At the workstation, over 80% of the information required to carry out a professional activity is visual. So, to move around and perform a task safely and efficiently, you need to ensure good visibility of all the elements making up the visual task. Lighting must therefore provide a luminous environment suited to professional activities. Although lighting is not a nuisance, if it is inadequate for the visual task, it is a stress factor that generates visual fatigue; it increases the workload, forcing operators to make considerable efforts to detect and process the visual information needed to accomplish their task.
