2. Five steps of the IEC MBF method
2.1 Preamble
Unlike the JA1012 and NAVAIR standards, which contain formal, mandatory requirements for developing MBF programs in line with those defined by Nowlan and Heap, the MBF-CEI standard presents guidelines and recommendations for maintenance activities to develop a failure management policy for equipment and structures. The following sections detail the elements shown in the diagram in figure 1 .
