6.1 Case study presentation

To illustrate the quantified bow-tie methodology, a simplified case is studied with the dreaded event "rupture of an unloading arm of a liquefied gas wagon". The assumptions are as follows:

  • liquefied gas is not unloaded in a closed enclosure;

  • the unloading station is located in an area that could potentially be affected by domino effects (explosion on a neighboring unit).
