4. Forming composite tubes
For aluminum foil composite tube production, the inner layer is obtained using a standard line with a single-screw extruder and longitudinal head, followed by cooling tanks. Once a layer of binder has been deposited on the inner layer, the resulting tube is surrounded by its aluminum foil (figure 6 ). The foil is then shaped to fit over the inner tube, and welded. Welding is performed using the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) or laser process. This operation can be carried out either sequentially (by storing the intermediate product corresponding to the inner layer in coil form), or directly in-line. The welding process is monitored in-line by a camera. The product thus obtained is passed on to a second line, where one extruder applies the binder layer, and another the outer layer....
