4. Conclusion

The special properties of rubber materials (elasticity, impermeability, adhesion, damping, etc.) mean that they are used in the construction of many mechanical components involving static contact, sliding and rolling. Despite the wear inherent in these various modes of use, they prove their effectiveness in the manufacture of tires for all types of rolling stock. Tread wear is a direct consequence of the sliding friction energy dissipated at the interface between the tire and the road surface, and therefore depends first and foremost on the nature and surface and volume properties of these two elements.
