2. Responsible organizations

Responsibility for the field of units of measurement lies, in different capacities and at different levels, with a number of bodies charged with defining these units, establishing their regulations, monitoring their application and ensuring their standardization.

These organizations operate at international, European and national levels.

2.1 Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM), CGPM, CIPM
