2. Compression molding

Compression molding produces plastic or rubber parts by deforming and distributing the material between a die and a punch (mold and counter-mold) mounted on a vertical press.

The products obtained are very varied:

  • the body of small power line connectors ;

  • enclosures for electrical equipment ;

  • automotive body components and interior trim panels for large vehicle cabins.

Processed materials fall into two main categories:

  • thermosets such as: unsaturated polyester resins, which can be reinforced with fibers or fabrics (composite materials), aminoplast, phenoplast and polyimide resins which, after being preformed and preheated in the form of pellets, are introduced into...
