5. Outlook

Despite the sharp drop in PC use in optical media, and the smaller drop in packaging, which was a much smaller market, PC demand should continue to grow by at least 6% a year on average, thanks to electrical and electronic applications, automotive, and to a lesser extent, construction and medical sectors.

Demand for polycarbonate, like that for many other high-tonnage plastics, is regularly boosted by the arrival of promising new markets and applications.
