4. Implementation

Pelletized polyamides can be processed by virtually any existing process: injection molding, injection blow molding, rotational molding, extrusion of tubes, profiles, sheets, films, extrusion blow molding of sheaths and various parts, machining, thermoforming, heat shrinking.

In powder form, polyamides are used for electrostatic spraying and fluidized-bath coating of metal parts.

Caprolactam (PA 6 monomer) and laurolactam (PA 12 monomer) can also be polymerized directly inside molds (anionic polyaddition), enabling the production of very large objects.

4.1 Special precautions

Hygroscopic in the solid state and sensitive to hydrolysis in the molten state, polyamides must be perfectly dry in order to be processed...
