POMs can be processed on all the usual thermoplastics processing machines: injection presses, extruders, blow molding and compression molding equipment.
General precautions to be observed when using POMs are as follows:
the temperature of the molten polymer must not exceed 240 ˚C and, under no circumstances, must the polymer be subjected, for a relatively long time, to temperatures in excess of 220 ˚C. In the event of excessive thermal stress, POMs release formaldehyde gas, the presence of which, even in low concentrations, is indicated by an irritating odor ;
the maximum permissible concentration of formaldehyde in the air in workplaces, as recommended by INRS (Institut national de recherche et de sécurité), is 1 ppm (by volume);
in the event of improper...

Polyacetal producers
Both homopolymers and copolymers are relatively difficult to produce, and have been for a long time. DuPont and Celanese were the only two producers. Numerous new plants have sprung up in the Far East.
Only DuPont and Asahi offer homopolymers. All other producers offer copolymers. Total worldwide capacity is around 780 kt (table
