1. Challenges in the use of plastics in the automotive industry

"In the 1980s, a foreman at an assembly plant asked me, "Why do you want to introduce plastics into the automotive industry? It was a question worth asking at the time. Since then, the use of plastics has become more widespread, which means that they have a number of advantages, which we shall try to explain. However, their use also poses problems that we'd like to be aware of. Finally, we'll look at the areas in which we can expect interesting developments.
