3.1 Reminders

By definition, metamaterials have physical properties not found in natural materials. This is the meaning of the prefix "meta" attached to the word material. In fact, they are artificial materials that enable their physical properties to be engineered by adjusting their geometric parameters, internal structure, components, etc. This applies to electromagnetic materials, for example. This applies to electromagnetism, but could be applied to all the physical properties of materials. This is not a new concept; composite materials with properties superior to those of their elementary components were invented a long time ago. We have already mentioned in the article
