2. Quality parameters and their measurements

In order to produce a cable or wire with the required characteristics, it is necessary to carry out various measurements during the various stages of the insulation or sheathing processes. Cold insulation diameter measurement, after the cooling tanks (figure 2 ), is found on all lines (communication, fiber optic, power). Depending on the application, we also measure :

  • the circularity of this diameter ;

  • concentricity of conductor and insulator ;

  • insulation continuity (sparktester).
