5. Conclusion

This article presents examples and case studies of thermomechanical, diffusive-mechanical and thermochemical-mechanical-oxidative couplings that occur during the ageing of organic matrix composites for aeronautical and aerospace applications. For each type of coupling, the steps of experimental characterization, modeling, identification and simulation have been addressed, based on existing bibliographical references and, in part, on research work conducted by the authors.

It should be emphasized that all the aspects reviewed in this article are not exhaustive, as other types of ageing can take place (radiochemical ageing, ageing by irradiation, ablation, exposure to fire, etc.).
