4. Characterization of a structural bond
The approach presented here refers to several types of C-Mn flat steel and a conventional epoxy-type adhesive.
To design a bonded structure, it is necessary to be able to assess the mechanical characteristics of the bonded joint. To do this, it is important to define the types of tests to be carried out and, above all, to anticipate the significance of the results obtained with regard to the assembly's in-service behavior (creep, fatigue, aging, etc.).
