INTRODUCTION
TPM (Total Productive Management) is a performance improvement approach well known in the competitive industrial sector, because its results are spectacular and, above all, long-lasting.
This sustainability is due to the fact that this approach, which is a genuine company project, takes into account technical, organizational and above all human aspects. It is by developing the behavior of the company's personnel that this sustainability is ensured.
Known in Japan since the 1970s, TPM has been refined over time, evolving in line with various experiments (topomaintenance, automaintenance, productive maintenance, etc.), and is now considered a relevant management approach.
This approach encompasses all quality improvement tools (SPC, 5S, SMED, FMEA, visual communication, etc.) and is implemented over the medium to long term, with a highly structured process.
Naturally, in the wake of TPM's success, many entities have adopted this approach, personalizing it or changing the acronyms.
While we are sometimes involuntarily subject to the effects of fashions, it is comforting to note that time reinforces and enhances the fundamental approach that is TPM.
