11. Tools
Just as the plumber arrives with his toolbox, so does the maintenance man who comes to troubleshoot a machine, or, preferably, to carry out preventive maintenance. The first tools we'll come across are the perfect mechanic's toolbox, with its assortment of screwdrivers, pliers and wrenches, as well as a number of electricians' tools, testers and current clamps, plus, if necessary, an oscilloscope if we're working on electronic circuits. It is, of course, highly desirable for the work sheet to give a precise list of the standard tools required.
However, this standard tooling is rarely sufficient, and more often than not, tooling specific to the item to be maintained is required alongside it.
