5. Organization of the documentation function

  • Objectives

    The maintenance documentation function is one of the fundamental sub-functions of maintenance, as it is practically impossible to maintain an asset properly without a minimum of documentation on that asset.

    The main aim of the documentation function is to ensure that each maintenance employee has access to the reliable information they need to carry out their tasks and actions, when they need it. In other words, everyone is both a user and a supplier of information. It will be the role of the documentation function to manage this data, classify it, present it and make it available to users.
