3. Advantages and limitations of the CWA-RBIM method

The CWA-RBIM risk-based inspection and maintenance method developed as part of a European Community initiative provides the main guiding principles for drawing up a risk-based inspection and maintenance program. It has been validated in the energy, chemical and petrochemical industries for the part directly defined in the CWA document, and as an extension to the RIMAP project.

3.1 Benefits

The CWA-RBIM method is a risk-based inspection method based largely on the majority of European standards relating to risk, risk management methods, operational safety and maintenance. Its primary aim is to avoid the risk-based inspection standards defined by API.
