8. Conclusion
The European regulations governing the implementation of an EMS are more restrictive than the requirements of the standard. ISO 14001 even in its latest version. Although the transition to EMAS is, in principle, easier for companies that are already certified ISO 14001 But few are taking the plunge. Proof of this lies in the still very high number of ISO 14001 emissions in the European Union compared to the number of EMAS registrations. The risk-based approach, which was intended to bring the two systems closer together and compensate for the remaining inequalities between them, does not seem to have had the desired effect, nor to have convinced company directors to switch to EMAS....
