2. Problem-solving methods, tools and techniques (MOTP)

MOTP is based on two ideas:

  • systematic analysis in a progress group of all aspects of a problem (malfunction, non-quality, etc.) and, above all, no examination or premature choice or preconceived solutions;

  • compliance with an eight-step checklist that must be followed one after the other, based on the Deming wheel model.

The eight steps of the method are as follows:

  • step 1 – recognize that there are problems and choose one;

  • step 2 – observe the current situation ;

  • step 3 – analyze the causes ;

  • step 4 – suggest improvements ;

  • step 5 – implement improvements ;
