3.1.1 Occupation of roadways by commercial vehicles
The space taken up by commercial vehicles (vans, straight trucks, tractors and semis with or without trailers) in the urban space can be measured using aerial photography (table 1 ). This makes it possible to estimate road occupancy rates for the various vehicle silhouettes at any given time.
