6. What benefits does the company enjoy?
Today, all companies that have implemented reverse logistics projects have often gained a competitive advantage. This can be represented, for example, by a positive image in terms of respect for the environment, and this is becoming increasingly important these days. By exploiting this image, the company can acquire a larger market share. What's more, by setting up such a system (especially for waste recycling), it can obtain a subsidy from bodies such as the DRIRE, for example.
The second advantage of reverse logistics is the savings made on parts and/or sub-assemblies reused in the production of new products. As mentioned earlier, a computer hardware manufacturer has reduced the cost of manufacturing certain products by 50%, thanks to the use of components recovered and reused in its production. These components obviously come from the reverse logistics system...
