3. Conclusion

Lean management has taken over fifty years to develop and spread throughout the world. It's only in the last fifteen years or so that many companies have integrated its managerial basis, and finally understood its importance.

A well-established foundation and an awareness of the need for change are the key elements that enable a Lean system to thrive.

However, there is a risk of backsliding if new managers revert to old practices, or if standards are not maintained.

In general, once the managerial base has been put in place, it only grows richer as the management it implies is in tune with the needs of our times.
