6. Conclusion

The global logistics chain needs to be brought under control. The difficulty lies in the large number of processes involved in this chain, and the difficulty of controlling them and acting to improve them from one end of the chain to the other.

Most existing systems do not lend themselves well to simple corrective actions, and often require experimental trial and error to determine what and how to act. Our experience has shown that only reactive systems allow simple, direct measurement and action.

In addition to this difficulty inherent in the application of the steering concept, its extension to the entire supply chain, from raw material to customer, poses a further challenge, since it involves reaching agreement between interests that are divergent by nature.
