4. Applications to environmental problems

This paragraph deals with a few simple exercises designed to illustrate various applications of water geochemistry codes to the natural and industrial domains. Calculations and graphs were obtained with the geochemical software JCHESS [12] .

4.1 Natural waters and buffer processes

Hydrogeochemical codes can be used to interpret chemical analyses of natural waters. The natural water cycle is the subject of an article in Techniques de l'Ingénieur [13] . Here, we will focus directly on the chemistry of these waters.
