6.1 Principle of X-ray absorption spectroscopy
Unlike diffraction, X-ray absorption spectroscopy provides information on the local order around a target atom. This technique involves measuring the absorption coefficient of the material near an absorption threshold of the target atom, as a function of the energy of the incident radiation.
