1. State of static equilibrium

The notion of state of motion will be clarified later. It will be used to generalize certain notions in this article.

Statics is simply that part of mechanics which deals with a very special case, the absence of motion at rest.

It could be considered a simple special case, but we'll see that it requires independent development.

1.1 Definition of balance

We'll proceed as in previous articles, starting with the material point, then generalizing to systems considered as a set of material points.
