5.1 The principle of holography [35]
Consider the diagram in figure 11 . The two waves å R and ∑ from the same coherent light source (here a ruby laser) are made to interfere in the H plane. The ∑ wave carries information about the object (amplitude and phase) and the ∑ R wave, unperturbed by the object, is a reference wave.
