3. Oxygen carrier requirements
To establish the criteria that an oxygen carrier must possess for a given process, it is necessary, on the one hand, to study the material and heat flows of the "Chemical Looping" system as a whole and, on the other, to take into account the thermodynamic aspects of the reactions involved under operating conditions.
This makes it possible (i) to define a number of parameters that will enable the oxygen-carrying material to be selected judiciously, such as its ability to transfer oxygen, then (ii) to study the behavior of the oxygen-carrying material particles in relation to the heat of the reactions, and finally (iii) to take into account the thermodynamic feasibility of the oxidation and reduction reactions of the chosen material under the operating conditions of the process.
