3.1 First set: monthly data
The wavelet decompositions of the two signals presented in the previous paragraph and obtained with the second derivative of the Gaussian are shown in figures 5 and 6 . The wavelet transform can be seen as the calculation of the similarity rate between the signal and the parent wavelet. If the signal shows similarities at different scales, then the representation of the coefficients will also show similarities at the same scales. The characteristic presence of similarities can be seen in figures
