4. PHC: Host arrays in PhOLEDs, towards white light emission
There are still only a few examples of white-light-emitting PhOLED devices based on PHC host matrices. These devices feature an emissive layer composed of a PHC host matrix doped with two phosphorescent dopants emitting complementary colors such as blue and orange. In this final section, we'll describe examples of white light-emitting PhOLEDs based on substituted SBFs, then return to PHC host matrices, which show strong efficiency in blue, green and red light-emitting devices, known as universal host matrices, and which could be used to fabricate hybrid white PhOLEDs (composed of several light-emitting layers of complementary colors).
The first white-light-emitting diode dates back to 2015, and has as its host matrix the SBF dimer PHC25 already described figure
