3. Application on a restoration site
As part of a restoration project at the Chapelle Sainte Madeleine in Solomiat, Ain, the condition report drawn up by Gilles Gautier, the restorer in charge of the project, seemed to indicate that the darkening of certain areas of a 19th-century mural was linked to the alteration of a lead pigment. A physico-chemical study of the paint layer confirmed this hypothesis, as the pure minium used had been altered into plattnerite.
