3. Development prospects

Work is now focused on scaling up. These processes have been optimized in a fully instrumented 20 L fermenter, enabling monitoring of assimilated sugars, generated products, gases (O 2 , CO 2 ), pH and redox potential. The next technical challenges will be to scale up to m 3 (300 L and 3 m 3 ) before moving to industrial production levels. In parallel, various substrates are being tested to adapt the bacteria to a variety of raw materials (lignocellulosic biomass, agricultural and forestry residues, organic household waste, dedicated energy crops).
