Absorption chillers

In an absorption refrigeration system, a heat source is used to separate a volatile component from a solution, usually a binary one. This vapour-phase component is then condensed and expanded. The resulting liquid evaporates, absorbing heat and producing cold.

Partial admission

In the case of a turbine, partialization refers to the regulation of power output by reducing the fluid flow to the inlet. This can be achieved by reducing the cross-section of the stator injectors, or by reducing their number.

Turbine axiale ; Axial turbine

An axial turbine is one in which the working fluid flow is parallel to the shaft, as opposed to radial turbines, where the fluid flows around a shaft, as in a water mill.
