3. High energy density microsupercapacitors
In the field of miniaturized electrochemical energy storage devices, it is essential to significantly increase the amount of active material in microdevice electrodes while maintaining a footprint of a few mm 2 . To date, two strategies have been used to increase the areal energy density of microsupercapacitors without penalizing the device's areal footprint.
