Summary

Design fiction is a speculative method oriented towards debate and design. It is related to the strategic scenarios used in foresight, in that it aims to tangibilize future alternatives. According to the first definition given in 2009 by American designer Jordan Bleecker, following an initial draft by science fiction author Bruce Sterling, design fiction is "the deliberate use of diegetic prototypes to lift disbelief about change, bringing science fact and science fiction together in design practice."
