6. Evolution towards 5G

The evolution towards 5G is being defined to offer not only a new access network with bandwidths 30 times greater than 4G, but also latency targets of less than 1 ms, densities of 10 6 connections per km 2 , and tens of Tbit/s/km 2 , mobility access at 500 km/h, energy consumption reduced to a tenth of current consumption, new service deployment times of 90 min, rather than days or weeks as today, and 99.999% reliability - in other words, a communications service that's always available on an increasingly reliable and autonomous network.
