6.1 Reciprocating pumps

The number of models is considerable. The pump can be either full-pressure, suction or suction and full-pressure. In elevator plants, pumps generally belong to the latter type.

They are particularly suitable for small and medium flows and high lift heights (> 100 m).

The interest of these pumps is purely historical.

  • Yield

    As mechanical friction losses are low due to low speeds, the overall efficiency of piston pumps is generally high. This is usually 0.85, except for pumps with high flow rates and low head....
