3. Conclusion and outlook
With the 1992 Water Act, non-collective sanitation has become a permanent sanitation option, chosen on the basis of technical, economic and environmental constraints. A range of high-performance materials and processes is available to meet every need.
The new law on water of December 2006 will lead to the revision of numerous texts relating to sanitation, including in the non-collective sector. The notion of "performance" will certainly be on the agenda. At the same time, all non-collective sanitation products will eventually have to bear the CE mark in compliance with European standards, as part of the Construction Products Directive. As a result, many new CE-marked products are appearing on the market. Some products that are not currently subject to the regulations could become so in the months or years to come.
