CFU (colony-forming unit)

In microbiology, the colony-forming unit is a unit of measurement used to quantify micro-organisms that multiply to form colonies on a solid agar culture medium.

PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction)

It's a molecular biology technique for specifically and exponentially amplifying a given DNA sequence.

Biofilm

A protective impermeable biological structure of "viscous matter" that forms a complex ecosystem made up of all kinds of micro-organisms and minerals that are over-concentrated in water circuits.
