3. Digital models

A mathematical model is a relationship, often empirically based, between different hydraulic quantities. It is associated with a domain of validity.

A numerical model implements one or more mathematical models describing the problem to be solved, and a solution scheme with its various parameters.

3.1 Digital model families

A model is a schematization of Nature that simplifies the resolution of a problem. In this sense, mathematical models preceded physical models.
